Little Diamonds - Mrs J Crabbe 2020 - 2021

Mrs Crabbe

September 2020

Welcome to our 'Little Diamonds' YR/1

A very warm welcome to our new school term, everyone! We are delighted to see all our children coming into school excited to learn and grow, together – along their friends and teachers. They have settled in so well and are getting used to the new routines and expectations - so quickly. We are really happy to be your teachers this year and are looking forward to our learning journey - together.

Our school day starts at 9am and ends at 3pm. The drop off and pick up point is the main school entrance via the school’s main gate. We greatly appreciate your punctuality.

Snack money this year is 25p per day for toast or cereal (£1.25 per week), which is paid via the ‘school gateway’. Please speak to Mrs Dineley for more information. School dinners are free for our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children and there is a great choice of warm meals on offer, including daily vegetarian options. However, if you think your child could be entitled to a free school meal, based on income – please contact Mrs Dineley to claim it, as it also helps our school provision.

PE this year will be on Wednesday and we will endeavour to have PE outside (whenever possible), so we will expect children to come into school wearing their outdoor PE kit, comprising of navy-blue joggers, a navy-blue hoodie and black trainers. Children can wear their indoor PE kit underneath (white t-shirt and blue shorts), in case we have PE in the hall, due to severe weather conditions.

Very soon, you will see our class’ long-term plan for this year, so please feel free to speak to us if you have any questions.

If you would like to have a quick chat with either myself, Miss Hull or Miss Hayes, we are very happy to do so at the end of the day (once we have released the children). Alternatively, for a longer chat, please make an appointment with Mrs Dineley, so we can make the necessary arrangements to welcome you in.

With all the best wishes,

Mrs Crabbe, Miss Hull, Miss Hayes

26th June 2020

Happy Friday, everyone : ),
I would like to say a big thank you to all of you, who chose to send your child to school this week and for your patience with the change of drop off/pick up times and points. The children were really happy to play and learn with their friends again and did really well settling in and getting used to the new hand-washing expectations and the slight change of routines. We are delighted to have had half of our Reception children back this week and are hoping that more of you will feel reassured by the measures we've put in place and would look into sending your child to school for the last three weeks of term.
We believe that returning to school before the start of the Summer holidays, will be extremely beneficial in terms of transitioning to the next year group, as well as catching up on some of the social, emotional and academic skills we haven't had a chance to work on during the long months of lock-down.
If you'd like to send your child to school, please give us at least 24 hours notice, so we can organise the groups. Just to clarify, from next week, our Reception children will be in school from 9am - 3pm (Monday to Thursday) and 9am - 12pm (Friday), still dropping off and picking up via the side gate near the main school gates, adhering to the 2m social distancing rule.
Have a lovely weekend everyone and we're looking forward to seeing you again on Monday.
And to those of you who have chosen not to send your child to school, we respect your decision and would like to thank you for continuing with the amazing home-learning you have been doing during the past few months, it's greatly appreciated.
Best wishes,
Mrs Crabbe

Hi everyone : ),
It was great to see so many of you today, picking up the home-study packs : ). You are all looking well and it made me really happy to hear how much you want to be back in school.
I'm really pleased that you continue to learn and have fun at home, posting things on here - showing the excellent progress you have made in the past few weeks. And many of you have already made a great start on the new home-study activities : ).

8th June 2020

Hi everyone : ),
Hope you are all healthy, in good spirits and well rested after our two-week holiday - ready for some Summer 2 fun : ).
As you are already aware, as much as we were ready and looking forward to welcome you back to school today, we weren't able to do so, unfortunately, but we are hoping to see you very soon.
Meanwhile, we have prepared another home-study pack, which is ready for you to pick up from the school office tomorrow from 10 am until 3 pm. Please ring the door bell and wait at the top of the steps and we will hand over the pack to you.
The home-study guidance and the daily timetable remain the same but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on Class Dojo, via e-mail or by ringing school.
I am really looking forward to seeing you all learning and having fun at home, until we can all reunite again in school.
Best wishes,
Mrs Crabbe

20th May 2020

Good morning everyone : ),
Hope you are all well and enjoying the lovely weather this week as you are awaiting with anticipation our return to school on 8th June : ).
Please accept my apologies for not being on Class Dojo since last week, but we have been, and still are, really busy in school getting ready for our children's return to school. We are all looking forward to seeing you again, so we can get together for our final half-term of learning before the summer holidays.
Very soon, you will receive guidance on the measures we have taken for the safe return of our children but we can assure you that although things will look slightly different, in order to keep everyone safe, we will aim to maintain as much familiarity in our routines and environment, as we possibly can.
Best wishes,
Mrs Crabbe

Good morning everyone : ),

I hope that you are all well and in good spirits. I am sure that you are all eager to find out more about the possibility of Year R, Year 1 and Year 6 returning to school in June. The guidance from the Department for Education has only just been issued, so rest assured that we will share our plan of action with you, as soon as we have familiarised ourselves with the guidelines and their implications on our school practice. Until then, I hope that you are patient and continue with the wonderful learning you’re doing from home. This is the latest Bulletin from ‘Literacy Counts’, which looks at Taking Literacy Outside. Hope you've had a restful weekend and are feeling energized for the week ahead. Since I've uploaded the Reception 'Talk 4 Writing' booklet two weeks ago, many of you have shown great interest in it, so I'd like to share with you the second booklet, as it is really effective in developing the Early Literacy skills of simple story-telling and story writing. Hi everyone : ),
Hope you've enjoyed learning about and from 'The Story Of Easter' I posted on Tuesday. Today, on Maundy Thursday, the Catholic Church traditionally celebrates Mass in the evening to commemorate 'The Last Supper'. Archbishop Malcolm will be streaming his Holy Week liturgies live from the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ The King. Tonight's liturgy will start at 7 pm on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/liverpoolmetrocathedral
and you can find the service sheets for each of the liturgies on https://www.liverpoolmetrocathedral.org.uk/archbishop-malcolm-mcmahon-to-live-stream-holy-week-and-easter-services/
Hope you all have a healthy, happy and restful Easter break.

7th April 2020

Good morning everyone : ),
I hope you've all had a peaceful and restful weekend and that you are all in good health and spirits.
As we are in Holy Week this week and Easter Sunday is fast approaching, I wanted to share with you 'The Story of Easter'. It reminds us to be thankful for Jesus' greatest sacrifice for us and gives us hope that despite the current challenges we are facing, 'Easter' gives us 'New Life' and we are about to see it blooming all around us (and hopefully within us) this Spring. Hope you enjoy it!

Today I would like to share with you an all time classic, the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', with it's gentle reminder of how important a balanced diet is for us and the need to eat more of 'the good' things and less of 'the bad' : ).

I am so pleased to see all of your home-study photos and videos... You're all having a great time with fun activities, singing, dancing, arts and crafts, too. Brilliant!
I've just been informed of a great learning website, especially for learners of English as a second language. It's free to register and you can use a range of free resources, although not all of their resources are free. It is called Flash Academy https://flashacademy.com/resources
Also, some of you have been learning about Science with Maddie Moate's YouTube videos:
https://www.youtube.com/user/maddiemoate
They are live streaming Mon to Fri, every week, from 11 am, but they also have lots of other useful videos to access, if you don't like the topic of the day.
Keep up the good work everyone and if you need help with anything, you know how to contact me.
