Reception Mrs J Crabbe 2019 - 2020

Mrs Crabbe

Welcome to The Holy Spirit Family

Dear parents/carers,

A very warm welcome to you and your child to the first term of their school life, which will be full of fun and exciting learning experiences. We are looking forward to a successful and enjoyable year ahead and to working with you in ensuring your child receives the best possible start in their education. We would also like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to some housekeeping matters:

Home Time

To reduce the congestion of children at home time, we are going to release the Reception children at 3pm and the Year 1 and Year 2 children at 3.05pm.

Clothing

Could you also ensure that your child’s school uniform, school bag, PE kit and bag, coats and shoes have your child’s name on, so we can return any lost items to their rightful owners. As the weather is getting colder, could you please make sure your child brings a coat to school every day?

Snack Money

The £1.25 snack money is paid through the online payment portal – School Gateway, which has been updated with your child’s details. For more information, please see Mrs Dineley at the office.

Tapestry Consent Form

In order to update the parents’ account for our Tapestry Online Journal, which will regularly inform you of your child’s learning journey, we would like you to fill in the Tapestry Consent form, along with any outstanding school forms (if you haven’t done so already) and return to school ASAP but no later than Friday, 13th September 2019.

Reading/Homework/Book bags

Every week your child will be given a reading book, which initially might only include pictures for you to discuss with your child. Please ensure that you read/discuss the books with your child every day, for at least 10-15 min, as children who read at home make much better progress in reading and writing in comparison to children who do not.

Could you please keep your child’s reading book in his/her book bag and bring book bags into school every day, as we will be changing the reading books daily, as long as you have indicated in the reading journal that they have been completed.

Also, every week, sometimes daily, your child will be given a ‘Homework’ book with activities for him/her to complete with your support. Please help your child with those activities, as parental support is extremely important for children’s progress in school.

Dress up outfits

We would like to ask if you can donate any unwanted children’s dress up outfits (especially superhero ones), as we are looking to enhance our ‘dressing up’ area in the ‘home corner’.

Also, as part of our topic ‘Ourselves’ we would like to ask if you could send one picture of your child with his/her closest family to share with their peers (if you haven’t included one already in your child’s ‘Talking Book’ during the Summer holiday). Thank you to all the parents, who have took the time to record your child’s holiday activities in their ‘Talking Book’. We will be spending time next week to look at the books, so there is still time to bring yours in, if you haven’t already.

Kind regards,

Mrs Crabbe and Miss Hull
