What Is Safeguarding
Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.
Safeguarding means:
- Protecting children from abuse or maltreatment
- Preventing harm to children's health or development
- Ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
- Taking action to enable all childrenand youngpeople to have the best outcomes.
- Safeguarding children and child protectionguidanceand legislationapplies to all children up to the age of 18
What is Child Protection?
Child protection is part of safeguarding and promoting welfare. It refers to the activity that is undertaken to protect specificchildren who are suffering or are likely to suffer, significant harm.
Safeguarding Policies and Proceedures at The Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School
The Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School have adopted the Halton Safeguarding Policy which has been updated in light of KCSIE2021 and other new and updated documents. All Staff at school have been provided with the draft Policy as part of the consultation that has taken place in line with KCSIE 2021 Paragraph116 for them to contribute to and shape safeguarding arrangements and child protection policy. The Policy was agreed by the Full Governing Body in Autumn 2021
